So Who is Haguette Clark? And Where Is She?

Today we found an interesting photostory by Bill Dedman of MSNBC on Huguette Clark, daughter of ”Copper King” William A Clark. Back in the day, the colorful William Clark was one of the richest two men in American (Rockefeller was the other) after making his fortune on a copper mine in Jerome, AZ. Las Vegas lies in the county named for him.

As for Huguette, well, she’s now 103 with no heirs. And despite owning numerous mansions, featured in story, no one knows where she is. Read about her family’s story and see all the mansions here.

Wayne Newton’s Show House Headed for Foreclosure

According to the Las Vegas Sun, Wayne Newton is delinquent on a $3.35 million loan on his famously over-the-top “Casa de Shenendoah” home. Gotta say, Wayne’s casa is so extravagant that it’s hard to feel sorry for him. Just watch this video and you’ll see what we mean:

Tiger Cub Really Loves His Momma

Tiger Woods is building this mega-mansion for his mother near Jupiter, Florida. At first we thought it was Tiger’s way of apologizing to his mom for his misbehavior, but according to Jose Lambiet of the Palm Beach Post this development has been in the works since 2007. Read the full story here.

“Seabiscuit” Writer/Producer/Director Down on the Farm

In this difficult economy, it is sometimes hard reading about all those wealthy celebs and their mega-mansions. While we love gawking, we’re usually thinking, “Hey, I don’t really want to live like that anyway.” Well, Oscar-nominated Gary Ross — who wrote, produced, and directed “Seabiscuit” and a host of other films — really does live like we want to live . . . . on the weekends at least.

In a story by Sara Lin at the Wall Street Journal, we learned that Ross owns an 11-acre organic farm just north of Santa Barbara, where he grows oranges and avocados. On that farm sits a 3,500 square foot ranch house (above) that he shares with his wife, film producer Allison Thomas. They spend their weekends there and actively work on the farm.

According to the article, Ross spent about $1.5 million on the land and another $700K to build the house. Apparently, he patterned the home after the home seen in “Seabiscuit.” He also built himself a writing shack out back. How sweet is that?!!!

Real Estate Mogul’s Widow Asks $50M for Mansion — Huff Post

The Huffington Post writes: “. . . widow of billionaire Real Estate Mogul Melvin Simon, has put her grandiose Bellagio Road mansion on the market for the bank-breaking price tag of $50 mil. The 20,000-sq. foot estate boasts 8 bedrooms and 16 bathrooms, and such creature comforts as a billiards room, movie theater, indoor pool with lounge area, and a sprawling 2,000 sq. foot master suite.”

GeoCities Co-Founder’s Mid-Century Gem for sale at $18.9M

Now here’s a mid-century modern home that does not disappoint. Thanks to Lauren Beale at the L.A. Times, we know that it belongs to David Bohnett, co-founder of GeoCities. GeoCities was reportedly acquired by Yahoo! back in 1999 for nearly $4 billion in stock. Bohnett is currently the CEO of OVGuide.com, an internet directory and search engine for online videos. Anway, he has placed this 4BR/5.5BA beauty up for sale at $18.9 million.

So what do you get for the money? You get an approximately 5,700 sq. ft. home designed by famed architect A. Quincy Jones for screen legend Gary Cooper in the mid-1950’s. It has features like terrazzo floors, floor-to-ceiling windows, a raised stone fireplace, a gym, and a pool (of course!).

Tom Hanks & Rita Wilson Purchase $26M Digs in Pacific Palisades

Okay, so everyone’s talking about this: Film stars Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson just bought a home in the Pacific Palisades for $26 million. They purchased the home from producers Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall. The four bedroom, five bathroom home has a whopping 14,500 square feet–and likely clocks in as one of the highest price real estate buys for this year. Of course, it’s still early yet . . . .

Is Tiger Woods at the Meadows in AZ?

Rumors are circulating on the web that Tiger Woods briefly returned to his home in Windermere, Florida, met up with his wife Elin, and then boarded a flight with her that touched down in Mesa, Arizona. Now it is believed that he is staying at The Meadows, a rehab center located nearby. Judging from the photos (above), we’d say that this is a little more Tiger’s style. At least he can get in a few rounds at one of the many Arizona golf courses!

Robert Redford’s Former Malibu Home for Sale at $13.8M
